There is a multi-billion dollar industry based on the myth that we need help, that we lack the necessary self-control to balance our body weight by ourselves. This is nonsense really; we’re all house broken, and most of us achieved this at a very young age. We aren’t half as weak-minded as we’ve been led to believe. Advertising tells us that a certain magic pill, drink, diet, or exercise program will give us slim, healthy bodies. Of course, we have to pay for it and we do. The truth is – keeping busy with things we like to do is a much more successful way of achieving a healthy body. Blindly following expensive regimens designed to make some other fellow rich seems somewhat credulous. Starvation, even voluntary starvation, is never a good idea.
